World Forum on Skin Cancer in Persons with Albinism
Cape Town, South Africa │ 27-28 October 2025
The first World Forum on Skin Cancer in Persons with Albinism will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, on 27–28 October 2025. This two-day meeting will bring together dermatology experts, researchers, and patient organizations to address the urgent need for stronger skin cancer prevention and management in persons with albinism. The Forum will provide a platform to assess the global burden of skin cancer and to develop coordinated strategies that reduce its impact on the lives of affected individuals.
Skin Cancer in Persons
with Albinism
In many parts of the world, especially in tropical regions, persons with albinism face a high risk of developing skin cancer at a young age, with cases sometimes appearing in childhood. Limited access to timely diagnosis and effective treatment makes skin cancer the leading cause of premature death among persons with albinism in these regions.
Research
Aligned with its mission to enhance knowledge on albinism, the Global Albinism Alliance (GAA) has, since its inception, launched a range of initiatives to advance research in the field. Much of this work has focused on biomedical aspects, helping to build a stronger understanding of the health challenges faced by persons with albinism.
International Scientific Conference on Albinism
ISCA is the leading global meeting point for scientists, researchers, and healthcare providers dedicated to the biomedical aspects of albinism. It offers a unique platform to share discoveries, exchange expertise, and collaborate on solutions aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of persons with albinism worldwide.
